This month has been a crazy month for me! I went to Sydney, Australia, for Web Directions South, and then the following weekend, I red-eyed it to Atlanta for Webmaster Jam Session. It’s fun, but I’m glad it’s over. Continue reading ‘Web Directions South and Webmaster Jam Session’

Say what you want, ‘cos this is a new art school
Starting next month (September), I will begin taking classes toward a Master of Fine Arts at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. This is something I have been wanting to do since I completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Memphis College of Art — and I feel that it is right at the best time for me.
I received advice from my Social Ethics/Logic professor at MCA in 2006 (the year I graduated) to wait two years before beginning graduate school. She reasoned that I should be more mature and disciplined, and a lot more serious about what I wanted to do. This advice made sense to me, even back then, before I knew that I would be moving to California to work at Apple. Two years later, I not only discovered a fantastic school that offered the right kind of classes I wanted to take, but I also work at a company that supports furthering work-related education by assisting with financial reimbursement. It couldn’t be more right of a time. I’m very excited about this endeavor, and I look forward what I’ll learn and the projects I’ll create.
The next few years are going to be very, very busy for me… but it will all be worth it!
A Good Day Today
So today, I actually announced this site on Twitter. I still have some things that need to be done, but I felt it was time to get it out there, especially since I have been secretly blogging here, to get myself in that mode. So why did I pick today? Well, today is my 25th birthday, and I thought it would be good to force my own birthday on this site. I guess technically, it’s not the day it was “born”, but it is the day it was “announced”, so that works for me.
I hope you guys like it. Like I said, I still have some things to do (like putting in the rest of my content, debugging, and adding in some more imagery), but otherwise, I’m pretty satisfied with it. Let me know what you think!
